Vol. 440 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Robert Molloy

Question:

108 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry whether all outstanding headage payments have been made to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

The person named was paid an advance under the 1993 cattle headage and 1993 suckler cow premium schemes on 1 December 1993. He was also paid advances under the special beef premium scheme on two animals applied on in January-February 1993 and on two animals applied on in June 1993. The balance due under the cattle headage scheme will be paid shortly.

The balance due under the special beef premium and suckler cow premium schemes cannot be paid until all applications received from him in the course of 1993 have been processed. This is necessary to ensure compliance with EU regulations covering in particular the ceiling on eligible animals and stocking density.

Jim Higgins

Question:

109 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo has received no headage payments to date.

The person named will be paid an advance under the 1993 suckler cow scheme and the full amount due under the 1993 cattle headage scheme shortly. He was paid an advance on 10 December 1993 under the 1993 special beef premium scheme on animals applied on in January-February 1993.

Balances due under the suckler cow and special beef premium schemes cannot be paid until all applications received from him in the course of 1993, including his area aid application have been fully processed. This is necessary to ensure compliance with EU regulations covering in particular the ceiling on eligible animals and stocking density.
