Vol. 440 No. 6

Written Answers. - National Lottery Funding.

Paul Bradford

Question:

124 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Education the total amount of financial assistance which will be available to youth, sport and community groups from her Department by way of national lottery grant aid during 1994; if she has received an application for assistance under this scheme from a group (details supplied) in County Cork; when a decision will be made on this application; if assistance will be forthcoming for this group; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

A national lottery allocation of £1 million was provided for the Recreational Facilities Scheme in the 1994 Estimates for the Public Services and an additional Exchequer allocation of £3 million was provided for the scheme in the 1994 budget.

An application has been received from the organisation in question under this scheme. All applications received under the scheme, which was recently advertised, are presently under consideration by my Department and a decision in the matter will be conveyed to the club as soon as possible.
