Vol. 441 No. 1

Written Answers. - Sheep Quota.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

122 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry whether any further sheep quota can be offered to a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The person named has a ewe premium quota entitlement of 261 premium rights based on the number of ewes on which he was paid premium under the 1991 ewe premium scheme. He applied for additional quota from the national reserve under the category which provides for reserve quota to be allocated for producers who were paid premium on a lower number of ewes than normal in 1991 due to exceptional circumstances. However he was paid premium on a higher number of ewes in 1991 than the average number or ewes he received payment on in the years 1989 and 1990 and I regret therefore that he does not qualify for additional quota.
