Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Creed

Question:

156 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim has not received payment of 1993 sheep headage and ewe premium; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The person named is not due any payment under the 1993 ewe premium or sheep headage schemes as he withdrew his application under the schemes on 28 April 1993.

Michael Creed

Question:

157 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason ten month and 22 month beef premia could be paid on animals whose identity cards and ears were not punched.

Where cattle with unpunched cattle identity cards were sold by a special beef premium scheme applicant to a meat factory for slaughter or for export to a destination outside the EU, premium could be paid on them because they were taken out of the system through slaughter or exit from the EU. As a result premium could not be claimed on them again and in these circumstances it was deemed safe to pay premium on them to the applicant notwithstanding his-her failure to get the cattle identity cards punched.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

159 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when the 40 per cent balance of suckler grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

The person named was paid an advance under the 1993 suckler cow premium scheme for small scale milk producers on 5 December 1993. Payment of the balance of suckler cow premium cannot be paid until all applications received from him in the course of 1993, including his area aid application have been processed. This is necessary to ensure compliance with EU regulations covering in particular the ceiling on eligible animals and stocking density. Payment of balances will commence shortly.

Enda Kenny

Question:

160 Mr. E. Kenny asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if a person (details Supplied) in County Mayo will be paid all his due entitlements; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The person named was overpaid grants in respect of the 1982, 1983, 1984 and 1985 cattle headage schemes. Following offset of the 1993 suckler cow premium against the overpayment, a balance remains outstanding, and this will be deducted in due course from future grants payable.

Enda Kenny

Question:

161 Mr. E. Kenny asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a cattle headage will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo.

The person named was paid an advance of his 1993 cattle headage grant on 26 November 1993. His application is being processed further at present and any balance due will be paid in the near future. He was paid an advance of his 1993 suckler cow premium on 25 November 1993 but the balance due cannot be paid until all applications received from him in the course of 1993, including his area aid application have been processed. This is necessary to ensure compliance with EU regulations covering in particular the ceiling on eligible animals and stocking density.
