Vol. 441 No. 1

Written Answers. - Decentralisation Programme.

Seán Haughey

Question:

173 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform the offices under the control of his Department which have been relocated from Dublin under the decentralisation programme since the year 1987; the locations of the new offices; the number of jobs transferred; and the further proposals, if any, he has in this regard.

Since my Department was set up in January 1993, no offices under its control have been relocated from Dublin under the Government's decentralisation programme.

The Legal Aid Board, which operates under aegis of my Department, already has full-time law centres in Athlone, Castlebar, Cork, Dundalk, Galway, Letterkenny, Limerick, Sligo, Tralee and Waterford.

Under my proposals for expanding the services of the Board new full-time centres will be located during the course of this year in Ennis, Kilkenny, Longford, Monaghan, Nenagh, Portlaoise, Wexford and Wicklow.
