Question:190 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Education if her Department will examine the possibility of acquiring property from St. Columba's Hospital, Sligo, for an expansion to Sligo regional college.
Written Answers. - Sligo Regional Technical College Expansion.
In April 1991 the Town of Sligo vocational education committee proposed that St. Columba's Hospital be purchased as an extension of the Regional Technical College, Sligo. The property at that time had been offered for sale by public tender. On the basis of a preliminary investigation into the condition and suitability of the property the Department advised the vocational education committee that the acquisition of St. Columba's Hospital was not a viable proposition.
Any further action in relation to the acquisition of St. Columba's would be a matter in the first instance for the college authorities.
