Vol. 441 No. 1

Written Answers. - Drogheda (Louth) District Circuit Courts Site.

Michael Bell

Question:

75 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Justice if her Department will acquire the Drogheda Grammar School site for the purpose of providing a district and circuit court; if her attention has been drawn to the conditions in which the district court has to operate; if her attention has been further drawn to the fact that people in the second largest town in Ireland have to travel 44 miles to attend the circuit court which includes people on jury service, witnesses, legal and technical people and gardaí; if her attention has been further drawn to the fact that this is unsatisfactory in one of Ireland's major towns; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

As this matter is before the High Court on Friday next, I do not propose to comment until such time as the court has reached a decision in the case.
