Vol. 441 No. 3

Written Answers - Department of Health Financial Allocation.

Pat Rabbitte

Question:

41 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Health the total financial allocation under the National Development Plan, 1994-99, as originally drafted, for areas for which he has responsibility; the allocation following the overall cut of 8.5 per cent announced by the Government on 3 March 1994; the way in which this will be applied to projects for which he has responsibility; the implications, if any, for Tallaght Hospital; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The total financial allocation to my Department under the National Development Plan 1994-99 as originally drafted was £535 million. This covered the vocational training of people with disabilities and the construction of Tallaght Hospital. The adjusted allocation of £499 million will enable vocational training services for people with disabilities to be maintained at existing levels. The building and commissioning of Tallaght Hospital will proceed as planned.
