Vol. 441 No. 5

Written Answers. - Grant Payment.

Theresa Ahearn

Question:

167 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a beef premium will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary; and the reason for the delay in payment.

The person named is not the registered owner of the herd number quoted. The joint registered owners of that herd number, however, were paid an advance under the January-February 1993 special beef premium scheme on 14 April 1994. Payment of the balance due cannot be made until all applications received from them in the course of 1993 have been processed. This is necessary to ensure compliance with EU regulations covering in particular the ceiling on eligible animals and stocking density. Payment of balances will start shortly.

Their application for grants under the November 1993 ten month special beef premium scheme will be processed as soon as possible. They did not apply under the June 1993 ten or 22 month or November 1993 22 month special beef premium schemes.

Question:

168 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when beef cow and suckler cow grants will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary.

Advance payments under the 1993 suckler cow premium and beef cow schemes were made to the person named on 4 December 1993 and 14 January 1994 respectively. Applications under both schemes are now being processed further and any balance due under the 1993 beef cow scheme will be paid shortly.

Payment of the balance due under the 1993 suckler cow premium scheme cannot be made until all applications received from him in the course of 1993 have been processed. This is necessary to ensure compliance with EU regulations covering in particular the ceiling on eligible animals and stocking density. Payment of balances under this scheme commenced recently.

Question:

169 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when payment of suckler cow grant and beef premium will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The person named applied for 1993 suckler cow premium under the small scale milk producers scheme. However, as he did not declare his milk quota on the application form his case could not be processed for payment of an advance under this scheme. This matter has now been resolved and any payment due will be made shortly. My Department has no record of having received a special beef premium application from him in 1993.

John Browne

Question:

170 Mr. Browne (Carlow-Kilkenny) asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim will receive payment of suckler grant.

The person named was paid 60 per cent advances of his 1993 suckler cow premium on 27 November 1993 and his June 1993 special beef premium on 12 December 1993. Payment of balances under the suckler cow premium has now commenced and those under the special beef premium scheme will start within a week.

Payments of the balances cannot be made to a particular applicant, however, until all applications received from him/her in the course of 1993, have been processed. This is necessary to ensure compliance with EU regulations covering in particular the ceiling on eligible animals and stocking density.

Dinny McGinley
