Vol. 441 No. 5

Written Answers. - Banbridge (County Down) Incident.

Trevor Sargent

Question:

87 Mr. Sargent asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs if he intends to lodge an official complaint with the British authorities over the recent strip searching of five young women who were on their way to a disco in Banbridge, County Down; if he will call for an end to all such practices by security forces in Northern Ireland; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The events referred to by the Deputy have not been the subject of prior representations to my office. I would be prepared to examine any details the Deputy may have of the events in question.
