Vol. 441 No. 7

Written Answers. - Castlebar (Mayo) Third Level Courses.

Jim Higgins

Question:

92 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Education the number of staff who will be employed in the third level courses which are to commence at Castlebar, County Mayo from September 1994; the categories of staff involved; the courses involved; the total estimated cost of the development for the academic year 1994-1995; and if this has been included in the Estimates.

I am committed to the provision of two year National Certificate courses in Castlebar on an Outreach Centre basis commencing in September 1994.

The detailed arrangements for these courses have yet to be finalised. Accordingly, I am not in a position at present to supply the information sought by the Deputy regarding numbers and categories of staff and the courses and costs involved.

The 1994 estimates for the regional technical college sector include provision for expansion in student numbers and the Castlebar courses will be accommodated within this provision.
