Vol. 442 No. 4

Written Answers. - Reinstatement of Defence Forces Personnel.

Proinsias De Rossa

Question:

68 Proinsias De Rossa asked the Minister for Finance if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the management of the Ordnance Survey Office is seeking to deny members of the Defence Forces posted to the Ordnance Survey office who opt for UN peacekeeping service overseas the right to return to their positions; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

To date, all members of the Army Survey Company who have volunteered for and been selected to serve on United Nations missions abroad, have been accommodated within the Ordnance Survey on their return. It is not always possible, for operational reasons, to assign personnel to the particular jobs which they left some months earlier.
