40 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for the Environment if the EU have given approval for the proposed motorway construction in counties Louth, Meath and Dublin; and for the financial allocation from the EU and his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
Four strategic road corridors, including a North-South corridor on the east coast, were identified for priority development in the National Development Plan which was submitted to the European Commission in October 1993. The strategy for road development for the plan period, including the corridor approach, is elaborated upon in the draft operational programme for transport which is under discussion with the Commission at the present as part of the overall negotiations on the next Community Support Framework.
