Private Members' Business. - Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 20 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Doyle — the inordinate delay in commencing the building programme at Carrowreigh national school, County Wexford; (2) Deputy Frances Fitzgerald — the need for the urgent implementation of the remaining sections of the Child Care Act, 1991, particularly in view of the matters raised in recent court cases (details supplied); (3) Deputy Flanagan — the inadequacy of the nursing home regulations as applied to subventions in respect of persons seeking care in private nursing homes; (4) Deputy Allen — the intention of the British Social Services Secretary to introduce an habitual residency test for foreigners claiming social service benefits, and the adverse consequences of this move for Irish people travelling to Britain for work; (5) Deputy Rabbitte — the current industrial dispute at Airmotive, Clondalkin, County Dublin, and the consequent threat to employment at the plant; (6) Deputy de Valera — the imminent closure of the Rehabilitation Board's office in Ennis County Clare, and the need to assure the disabled people of County Clare that this service will remain in Ennis; (7) Deputy O'Donnell — the need for a full report into the procedures and co-ordination of the investigation by the North-Eastern Health Board in a case involving the sexual abuse of children in Monaghan.

The order of the Dáil of 4 May last which governs this sitting provided that, for this day only, three matters should be selected with ten minutes available to the Member concerned and ten minutes available to the Minister or Minister of State replying. In accordance with that order, the matters raised by Deputies Frances Fitzgerald, de Valera and O'Donnell have been selected for discussion.
