Vol. 443 No. 1

Written Answers. - Castleview (Dublin) School Site.

Mary Harney

Question:

155 Miss Harney asked the Minister for Education if she will reconsider a decision not to progress with the building of a second level school on the site already available at Castleview, Dublin 24, in view of the fact that people are leaving the area when their children reach ten years of age, schools within a three mile radius will not be able to cater for the increased numbers expected to leave the area's primary schools in the years ahead, that a company (details supplied) will be interested in building this school and her Department will only have to pay the mortgage on a lease/pay back arrangement over 20 years.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 208 of 4 May 1994, put down by Deputy Jim Mitchell. Given the position as set out in that reply, the question of whether, and on what terms, an interested party, other than my Department, would be prepared to build a post-primary school in Castleview is not relevant.
