Paul Bradford

Question:

50 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Health whether men or women are affected by suicide to greater or lesser extent; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 19 and 50 together.

The information sought by the Deputy for the years 1985 to 1992 inclusive is set out in a table which will circulate in the Official Report. These data show that, on average, men are three to four times more likely to commit suicide than women. Figures for 1993 are not yet available.
