Vol. 443 No. 5

Written Answers. - School Dental Scheme.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

99 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health if a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12 who will be 14 years of age in August 1994, will be covered by the new dental school scheme which has been extended to 14 years from the previous age limit of 12; and if he will have arrangements made for the dental treatment to be carried out as soon as possible.

I propose to make regulations very shortly under the recently enacted Health Amendment Act, 1994 (No. 11 of 1994) to extend eligibility for dental services to children under 14.

My Department is at present in consultation with health boards regarding their requirements to implement this service and in regard to an appropriate start-up date.
