Vol. 443 No. 6

Written Answers. - Dublin City Development Policy.

Jim Mitchell

Question:

23 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for Finance if the Government has an overall policy in relation to the multifaceted problems in Dublin city and county.

The Government's development strategy for the country, as a whole, including the Dublin region, is set out in the National Development Plan 1994-1999. The central objective of the Government's approach is to ensure the best long term return for the economy by increasing output, economic potential and jobs. It is further designed to reintegrate the long term unemployed and those at risk of becoming so into the economic mainstream. The Government commitment to development in Dublin reflects these priorities.
