Vol. 443 No. 7

Written Answers. - Alternative Heating System.

Tony Gregory

Question:

98 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for the Environment if he will reconsider the request by Dublin Corporation for funding to install central heating in four houses at 26-29 Coburg Place, Dublin 1, where the trial heating system which was provided free by Dublin Gas proved unsatisfactory in these recently constructed houses and in view of the fact that no overall additional expenditure is involved.

Local authorities are responsible for the management, maintenance and improvement of their rented dwellings. Accordingly, the corporation have been informed that the provision of an alternative central heating system in these four houses, at a cost of £13,500, is a matter for themselves. There are, in any event, no funds available to my Department for this purpose.
