Vol. 443 No. 7

Written Answers. - Voting Assistance.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

101 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for the Environment if persons who need assistance in voting at polling stations will be made aware, by way of notices hanging in the polling stations and by other means, that this assistance is available and that they will be assisted impartially; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Electoral law provides that electors with physical disabilities or inability to read and write be assisted in voting. The manual for polling station staff includes detailed instructions on the implementation of these provisions.
