Vol. 444 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Seymour Crawford

Question:

12 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the number of personnel, on a county by county basis, dealing with headage and premia applications; and if he has satisfied himself that this number is sufficient to ensure that farmers will be paid in time for their 1994 applications.

The personnel in my Department currently assigned to headage and premia duties are set out in the tabular statement below.

I believe that the level of staffing is sufficient to deal with the processing of 1994 headage applications. I would remind the Deputy that under EU regulations payment of advances under the suckler cow and special beef premium schemes cannot be made before 1 November 1994.
