Vol. 444 No. 6

Written Answers. - Pension Rights.

Jim Higgins

Question:

115 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment if he will make an order enabling former Comhlucht Siúicra Éireann Teoranta employees now employed at FÁS to have their pension rights transferred from Comhlucht Siúicra Éireann Teoranta to FÁS.

The public sector transfer network is a voluntary scheme whereby service may be transferred, for pension purposes, between participating organisations. Such organisations can be public or private. As stated, participation in the network is voluntary. Comhlucht Siúicre Éireann Teoranta — now Greencore — decided not to participate in the network. It is not, therefore, possible to have pension rights of people who left Comhlucht Siúicre Éireann Teoranta to join organisations which participate in the network, transferred to the latter organisations.

Neither I, nor any other Government Minister has the power to make an order of the type requested by the Deputy.
