Vol. 444 No. 7

Written Answers. - Waterford Harbour Funding.

Austin Deasy

Question:

73 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for the Marine if he will grant financial assistance to Waterford harbour commissioners to help them remove the sand bars at Cheekpoint and Duncannon which are preventing large ships such as cruise liners from entering the inner harbour.

The capital dredging project at Cheekpont-Duncannon in Waterford Harbour has been forwarded by the Department of the Marine to the EU for consideration for Cohesion Fund aid at the rate of 85 per cent of project cost. The EU's decision in the matter is expected shortly.
