Question:

273 Miss Harney asked the Minister for Defence the number of consultants, special advisers or programme managers retained by his Department since this Government took office; the nature of the work they have undertaken; and the cost of their services. [783/94]

The services of a programme manager have been retained for the purpose of facilitating the implementation of the Programme for a Partnership Government. A special adviser to the Minister of State has also been retained. His duties are concerned with carrying out research and providing advice to the Minister. The total cost of their services to the Department, to date, is £107,000.
