Vol. 445 No. 6

Written Answers. - Role of Shannon Airport.

Michael Noonan

Question:

94 Mr. Noonan (Limerick East) asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the role he envisages for Shannon Airport, County Clare, in the development of the tourist industry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [568/94]

I see Shannon Airport as an extremely important access point for tourists. For this reason I support the recent initiative by the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications in relation to Shannon Airport Marketing.

The work of Shannon Airport Marketing will assist the efforts of Shannon Development in regard to tourism promotion and development within the Mid-West region generally.
