Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

199 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when payment of a 1993 beef cow grant will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry. [1501/94]

The person named applied for beef cow/cattle headage in 1993 on 21 cows. It is a condition of this scheme that, if the applicant has a mixed enterprise, an animal will be regarded as a beef type suckler cow only if it is of a suitable type and standard and suckling a calf of a beef breed at application date and inspection. When an inspection was carried out on this herd on 15 October 1993 the cows were not suckling calves. He was therefore ineligible for payment under the 1993 beef cow scheme.
