Question:

169 Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for the Environment the current position regarding the Ballymana group water scheme, County Galway; and when this scheme will be sanctioned. [1512/94]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 168 and 169 together.

The question of funding for these schemes, and for water and sewerage services projects generally, has been considered in the context of the resources available under the National Development Plan. The high level of existing commitments and the demands of schemes already prioritised for investment account for all finance available to the water services programme at present. It is not, therefore, possible to provide funding for this scheme at this stage. The position will, however, be regularly reviewed during the period of the National Development Plan.
