Vol. 446 No. 3

Written Answers. - Hospital Death Inquiry.

Michael Noonan

Question:

279 Mr. Noonan (Limerick East) asked the Minister for Health if he has received correspondence from persons (details supplied) in County Dublin regarding the death of their daughter in a Dublin hospital; if he has made inquiries into the circumstances of her death; if he has satisfied himself that neither an internal hospital inquiry nor a formal inquiry by his Department is necessary to establish the facts; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2129/94]

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

283 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Health the inquiries, if any, he has made into a complaint by persons (details supplied) in County Dublin concerning the death of their daughter in a Dublin hospital in view of the evidence which they have produced that the hospital staff were unable to locate a working ECG machine in the hospital at a critical time during the woman's illness; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2164/94]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 279 and 283 together.

I have received representations in this case and am having inquiries made of the hospital concerned.
