Vol. 446 No. 5

Standing Order 76: Motion.

I move:

That, with effect from 27th October, 1994, and until further notice in the 27th Dáil, Standing Order No. 76 of the Standing Orders of Dáil Éireann relative to Public Business be amended by the insertion of "or at the request of their party leader" after "or at their own request".

Is the motion agreed?

It is not agreed.

Question put and declared carried.

While I accept the decision of the House, it is a black day for Irish democracy when a party leader can remove his party members from a committee because he or she no longer wants them there. I agree with Deputy Dukes that this should not have happened, it is a shame that the Whips agreed to it.
