Vol. 447 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Bovine TB Scheme.

Andrew Boylan

Question:

224 Mr. Boylan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry in relation to County Monaghan for the year 1993, the number of herds which were depopulated as a result of outbreaks of TB and Brucellosis; the total number of reactors taken out in each category; the number of herds totally depopulated in each category; and the number of herds which will qualify for backdated payments of increased compensation in 1993. [3055/94]

Avril Doyle

Question:

228 Mrs. Doyle asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry in relation to the bovine TB and brucellosis eradication schemes, if he will give details on a national and county basis of the number of reactors taken out in 1993; the number of herds affected; the number of herds totally depopulated; and the number of herds that will qualify for the recently introduced improved compensation. [3097/94]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 224 and 228 together.

The number of TB and brucellosis reactors, herd restrictions and herd depopulations at 31 December 1993 on a county basis are shown in the following tables.

As the measures to improve compensation to herdowners under the bovine TB and brucellosis eradication schemes have only been recently introduced, it is not possible to provide figures on the number of herds that will benefit under these new measures.

County DVO.

Number of Brucellosis Reactors in 1993.

Number of TB Reactors in 1993.
