Dinny McGinley

Question:

355 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for Education the youth groups and organisations in receipt of funding from her Department; and the amount allocated to each group and organisation for each year from 1990 to date in 1994. [3347/94]

Phil Hogan

Question:

356 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Education the amount of funding that has been provided by the State to various youth organisations for each of the years 1990 to 1994; if she will give a general description of the various organisation that qualify for this funding; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [3408/94]

I propose taking Questions Nos. 354 to 356, inclusive, together.

The youth affairs section of my Department administers the youth service grant scheme, a scheme for Grant-Aid for special projects for Disadvantaged Youth, Youth Information Services, Local Voluntary Youth Councils, Youth Exchanges, GAISCE, the President's Award, Comhairle le Leas Oige, Political Education Officers and other activities.
Full details of the actual outlays in respect of all youth organisations and programmes are published annually in the Appropriation Accounts.
It would not be feasible to give all these details in the context of an answer to a parliamentary question.
The expenditure is in the main funded by the surplus proceeds of the national lottery but there is a relatively small amount funded by the Exchequer.
The total allocation in 1994 for youth services is £12.064 million including Exchequer funding and hereunder is a detailed breakdown of this.
VOTE: OME.
Subhead: B9 — Youth National Lottery 1994.
