Dáil Éireann debate -
Tuesday, 13 Dec 1994

Vol. 447 No. 9

Business of Dáil.

We proceed to deal with item No. 16, the Select Committee on Legislation and Security of Dáil Éireann (Privilege and Immunity) Bill, 1994.

I seek the indulgence of the House to adjourn for ten minutes as the amendments tabled by the Government have not yet been circulated. I understood they were to be circulated about 20 minutes ago but I have been told that has not happened.

Will the Government Whip give us an assurance that this ten minute adjournment will be the last adjournment before the Dáil debates this Bill?

Yes, in so far as I can give it.

Is it intended that the Bill will be dealt with within four hours?

The debate will be of four hours duration.

The amendments are being circulated.

Are we ready to proceed with the Committee Stage?

Out of courtesy to the Opposition I have no objection to adjourning for ten minutes to allow the Opposition read the amendments.

Is the House ready to proceed?

I would like five or ten minutes to consider these amendments.

Sitting suspended at 2.26 p.m. and resumed at 2.36 p.m.
