Question:247 Mr. Hyland asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will establish a Land Resource Planning Body or authority for the purpose of agreeing an overall strategy for the development of the entire land resource of the country in view of the importance of the core agriculture industry; if his attention has been drawn to the growing importance of the rural environment and that there is in excess of 1 million hectares of land suitable for forestry development which through a planned national programme would make a substantial contribution to job creation and economic development; and if his attention has further been drawn to the fact that proposals for such a body was referred to the social partners for consideration by the previous Government.
