Dermot Ahern

Question:

31 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Finance his views on the omission in the Government's programme concerning Decentralisation; whether the proposed offices for Dundalk will continue to be part of his Department's plans; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3908/94]

Brendan Kenneally

Question:

46 Mr. Kenneally asked the Minister for Finance if it is intended to proceed with the programme of decentralisation; when tenders will be invited for the provision of a building in Waterford to accommodate parts of the Land Registry Office and the Department of Social Welfare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1126/95]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 19, 31 and 46 together.

This Government is fully committed to the decentralisation programme. The absence of a reference to decentralisation in the programmeA Government of Renewal has no significance in this regard.
With regard to decentralisation to Waterford, I am not yet in a position to say precisely when tenders will be invited.
In the case of Dundalk, the position is that a total of 88 staff of the Revenue Commissioners have already decentralised there and are situated in temporary accommodation on the Newry Road. It is proposed to go to tender shortly for a building for the Dundalk decentralisation.
With regard to Kilkenny, it has been decided that part of the Office of Public Works will decentralise there. A section of the Department of Enterprise and Employment is also to transfer to Kilkenny.
