Vol. 448 No. 1

Written Answers. - Tribunal of Inquiry into Beef Industry.

Michael McDowell

Question:

30 Mr. M. McDowell asked the Minister for Finance, in view of the finding by the Tribunal of Inquiry into the Beef Industry that major tax frauds were authorised at a management level by a group of companies (details supplied), whether the Revenue Commissioners have commenced any legal proceedings, whether civil or criminal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1573/95]

The Revenue Commissioners have not commenced any legal proceedings arising from the Report of the Tribunal of Inquiry into the Beef Processing Industry. I understand that the matters arising from the report are still under examination in Revenue. They propose to consult the Director of Public Prosecutions before final decisions are made as to how to proceed.
