Vol. 448 No. 1

Written Answers. - EU Funds Transfer.

Martin Cullen

Question:

52 Mr. Cullen asked the Minister for Finance the total amount of funds transferred to date from the EU under the National Development Plan, 1994 to 1999; if the transfers are on target; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1584/95]

The National Development Plan 1994-1999 covered expenditures and EU aid under the Community Support Framework, under structural fund Community initiatives and from the Cohesion Fund. Receipts of EU aid to date in respect of these elements amount to £511 million.

Due to the delay in the start-up year of the new Community Support Framework, in getting the detailed operational programmes in place and in getting various EU-funded programmes and projects fully underway, a total of £108 million related to 1994-1999 Plan expenditure, which would in the normal course have been received in 1994, was not in the event received before the end of the year. There has been £35 million received in January. The balance of these receipts are now expected in 1995.
