Vol. 448 No. 1

Written Answers. - Rural Houses Valuation.

John Ellis

Question:

79 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for the Environment if his Department will now review the guidelines with regard to the valuation of rural houses in view of the fact that many of them are being valued at more than their market value under the tenant purchase scheme. [1632/95]

It is not proposed to change from market value as the basis of determining, under the tenant purchase scheme, the gross price of a house, from which discounts allowable under the scheme are deducted in arriving at the price actually payable by the tenant for the house. Tenants who dispute an authority's valuation of a dwelling may submit a valuation certificate from another qualified valuer for consideration by the authority with whom the final decision rests.
