Vol. 448 No. 3

Written Answers. - Location of Casino.

David Andrews

Question:

171 Mr. Andrews asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the plans, if any, he has regarding the location of a casino in the Dublin area. [2141/95]

Whereas I have an open mind about the establishment of a properly regulated casino in Ireland, it has been explained to all potential casino interests that a decision to permit such an operation, in any part of the country, is a matter for the Government and would require the passage of amending legislation, which is the responsibility of the Minister for Justice. My Department is presently studying the benefits of a casino from a tourism perspective.
