Vol. 448 No. 3

Written Answers. - Outstanding Charges.

Noel Dempsey

Question:

103 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for the Environment the total amount of water charges, sewerage charges and refuse collection charges outstanding to local authorities at the end of 1994 or at the latest date for which figures are available. [1825/95]

The most recent information available to my Department is in relation to the end of 1993 at which stage the following amounts in respect of domestic service charges were outstanding: water charges, £19.068 million; refuse charges, £3.025 million; sewerage charges, £0.727 million. These gross figures include arrears brought into 1993. They do not take account of payments of arrears made after 1993 nor any subsequent deductions arising from waivers, write-off of uncollectable amounts, etc.

Information in relation to arrears of non-domestic service charges is not available in my Department.
