Question:

163 Mr. Martin asked the Minister for Education her views on the acquisition by University College Cork of Our Lady's Hospital, Lee Road, Cork, to enable the college to expand in a rational and planned manner; and if she will provide the necessary funding to facilitate such an acquisition, thereby meeting a commitment given by the outgoing Government. The Higher Education Authority, at my request, is currently carrying out a full appraisal of a proposal from University College Cork for the acquisition and development of this site.

I will give the proposal my full consideration when I receive the recommendations and advice of the authority.
