Question:66 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Justice the number of prison suicides in January 1995; and the comparative figures for January in each of the years 1990 to 1994. [2513/95]
Written Answers. - Prison Suicide Statistics.
There was one death in prison custody during January 1995. The cause of death will be determined in due course by a coroner's inquest. Preliminary information available to me, however, suggests that the person concerned died of natural causes rather than by suicide.
No death in prison custody occurred in January in the years 1990-94.
