Vol. 449 No. 3

Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 30.

Before coming to the Order of Business I propose to deal with a notice of motion under Standing Order 30 from Deputy John O'Donoghue. I now call on Deputy O'Donoghue to state the matter of which he has given notice to me.

I request leave under Standing Order 30 to move the Adjournment of the Dáil in order to discuss a matter of public importance, the disgraceful incidents at Lansdowne Road last night and the measures which the Minister for Justice intends to introduce to prevent a recurrence.

Having considered the matter fully I do not consider it to be one contemplated by the Standing Order and, therefore, I cannot grant leave to move the motion. The House will be aware, perhaps, that there will be a proposal by the Taoiseach on the Order of Business to deal with this matter.
