The payment referred to by the Deputy, which is Ireland's estimated contribution to the EU budget for 1995, is composed of the following elements:

The financial benefits come in terms of the receipts under the Common Agricultural Policy, the Structural Funds, the Cohesion Fund and other policies. These receipts are estimated to amount to £2.4 billion in 1995. The attached tables sets out for each year since 1973 Ireland's gross receipts from, payments to and net receipts from the EU budget. I am sure the Deputy will agree that the benefits to Ireland are considerable.
