Vol. 449 No. 6

Written Answers. - CAO Payments.

Kathleen Lynch

Question:

62 Kathleen Lynch asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the inconvenience posed to parents by the current restrictions on methods of making payments to the CAO; and if she will consider instructing the CAO to accept payment by postal order, cash or cheque. [4215/95]

The procedure regarding the method of making payments to the CAO was decided on by the board of directors of the CAO. The CAO is a company limited by guarantee and CAO policies are made by the participating institutions — including the methods of accepting payment through their representatives who are directors of the company. I exercise no control over the CAO and do not have power or authority to instruct the CAO or its participating institutions to change their system of accepting payments.
