Vol. 450 No. 2

Written Answers. - Slane (Meath) Concerts.

Noel Dempsey

Question:

117 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Justice if she has satisfied herself that the Garda Síochána can handle the necessary arrangements for the proposed concerts in Slane, County Meath, in view of the events in Lansdowne Road; and the discussions, if any, she intends to have with the Garda regarding these matters. [5008/95]

As I have already informed the House, former Chief Justice Mr. Tom Finlay is to investigate the events of 16 February in Lansdowne Road and report to me on the matter. Until I have received his report, any comment by me on the matter would be premature.

As regards the forthcoming Slane concert, I am informed by the Garda authorities that discussions are continuing with the organisers and other interested parties, and that detailed plans for the policing of the event are being drawn up.
