113 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for the Environment if he recognises and supports the successful Kerbside Dublin initiative; his views on the beneficial aspects of this project; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5134/95]
My Department has consistently shown support for Kerbside Dublin, which is the largest beneficiary of my Department's recycling grants scheme, having received grants totalling £390,000 since 1991. Kerbside Dublin has provided a valuable service in terms of diverting significant quantities of waste from landfill disposal to recycling, raising public awareness of waste recycling and generating valuable information arising from its operation of a source-segregated waste collection scheme for household waste.
