Vol. 450 No. 3

Written Answers. - Speech Therapy.

Colm M. Hilliard

Question:

130 Mr. Hilliard asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the fact that a language school was expected to open in January 1995, but to date has not done so; if her attention has further been drawn to the need for this school to open to provide the necessary therapy to a number of children who suffer with speech problems; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [5132/95]

I take it the Deputy is referring to the need for an educational facility for children with specific speech and language disorders in the County Meath area.

My Department has been in contact with the relevant health authorities with a view to having up-to-date psychological and speech therapy reports made available, on receipt of which the need for a special class will be examined by my Department.
