Question:139 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Justice the number of people who were imprisoned in 1994 for drug or drug-related offences; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [5579/95]
I propose to take Questions Nos. 138 and 139 together.
The annual reports on prisons and places of detention set out the numbers of prisoners committed by offence category. The most recent report published was for 1991. The 1992 report is ready for publication and will be submitted to Government shortly. Statistics in relation to 1993 and 1994 are being compiled at present.
