Vol. 450 No. 8

Written Answers. - Functions of Ministers of State.

Pat the Cope Gallagher

Question:

126 Mr. P. Gallagher (Donegal South West) asked the Minister for Education the functions delegated to each Minister of State; and the date on which the functions were delegated in each case. [5821/95]

The following functions are delegated to each Minister of State assigned to my Department. Deputy Bernard Allen is responsible for: youth affairs; sport; recreational facilities; school transport; special adjournment debates on education other than debates on major policy issues; Private Member's Business on education matters other than major issues. The functions delegated to Deputy Austin Currie consist of the statutory powers and duties of the Minister as conferred by the Children Acts, 1908 to 1989 in so far as they relate to juvenile offenders and the School Attendance Acts, 1926 to 1967.

In the case of both Ministers of State, their functions were delegated to them from 4 January 1995.
