Vol. 450 No. 8

Written Answers. - State Agency Support for Exporters.

David Andrews

Question:

177 Mr. Andrews asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the co-ordination, if any, there has been between State agencies to fully assist exporters to compete in the context of currency fluctuations. [5812/95]

I am informed that regular inter-agency liaison meetings are held to examine issues of common concern, such as those related to currency matters. Forfás, which is the responsibility of my colleague, the Minister for Enterprise and Employment, co-ordinates the activities of the industrial development agencies.

In relation to my own remit, I know that An Bord Tráchtála (ABT), as part of its activities, has run a series of seminars on treasury management for the benefit of small indigenous exporters, to help them deal, inter alia, with foreign exchange related matters.
